‘The Witcher’ Leads Nielsens Top Streaming Charts with More than 2 Billion Minutes Watched

What do The Witcher and CoComelon have in common? Off hand you might say nothing, but they were both recently the most-streamed titles of the week according to Nielsen’s top ten tracker.

During the week ending Dec. 19, Netflix viewers really got into fantasy and streamed over 1 billion minutes of Henry Cavill as Geralt in The Witcher, making it the top title for the week. Believe it or not, CoComelon was next in line overall with 840 million minutes. Two completely different demographics, but both probably just invested in their TV shows.

Besides The Witcher, which quite honestly blew everything else out of the water in terms of viewership, Hawkeye and Lost In Space were the next most-watched Originals that week, but neither came close to hitting even 1 billion minutes. Other Originals to make the list invlude The Wheel of Time on Amazon Prime Video, and two of Netflix’s new Reality series, Selling Tampa, and Twentysomethings: Austin.

In terms of Acquired TV, viewers continue to favor go-to’s like Criminal Minds, Seinfeld, NCIS and Grey’s Anatomy, with Disney+ breaking up Netflix’s sweep thanks to its popular cartoon series Bluey that’s entertaining for both children and adults.

And let’s not forget about movies: viewers were gearing up for the holidays with plenty of festive titles like Home Alone, Elf, and A California Christmas on Netflix just to name a few. In fact, Holiday movies claimed seven of the 10 spots that week. But the No.1 movie overall was Netflix’s The Unforgivable starring Sandra Bullock.
