This week The Weather Channel announced a new partnership with Yelp to bring new content to their Local Now weather service. With this deal, Local Now will not only give you weather and news updates but also recommendations, reviews, images, and videos of the best local restaurants and bars in their area.

If you have ever seen The Weather Channel’s Local on the 8s, you are likely familiar with Local Now. Yet not only does it show you local weather but also a rolling list of content from Associated Press, Reuters, Foursquare, American City Business Journals, Stadium, Cheddar, Pointslocal, SportRadar, Internet Video Archive, TrafficLand, INRIX, Flight Aware, and more.

“We’re excited to partner with Yelp as the most trusted and go-to crowd-sourced review and business rating services,” said Shimika Wilder Jones, vice president of strategy and business operations at Weather Group. “The partnership will allow users to discover new, top-rated dining locations in their area. We hope that Local Now viewers will have fun as they get more curated information about local restaurants and hidden gems in their own backyards.”

“Local Now is a fun way for people to discover what’s going on in their community,” said Chad Richard, SVP Business & Corporate Development for Yelp. “With more than 155 million local reviews, Yelp is in a great position to help Local Now viewers discover the best local businesses.”

Local Now is available on services and devices including Sling TVXumo, MobiTV, fuboTV, Plex, iOS, Android, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV.
