Today The Weather Channel announced the launch of a free streaming service called Local Now Plus. With Local Now Plus, cord cutters will be able to stream local news, weather and even free movies without a cable TV subscription.

Local Now Plus will launch this Friday, December 20th, 2019. It will include more than 150 movie titles that all users can access within the new Local Now Plus app. The new Local Now Plus app will be released this Friday on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, iOS and Android Devices. Support for more devices will be coming in the future.

From the looks of it, this new free streaming service from The Weather Channel will be built on the popular Local Now channel. Now though you will also find free movies to watch on-demand with ads.

Start watching on December 20th and look for updates as we go into the new year. With this new app, cord cutters across the country will finally have access to the weather updates and Weather Channel content we’ve been waiting for.
