Have you ditched cable, but miss the variety of live TV channels? Plex has you covered. With Plex Live TV & DVR, you’ll have access to your entire media library along with live TV, at home and on the go.

How it Works

To watch live TV with Plex Live TV & DVR, you’ll need a digital tuner and antenna. Choose your equipment, hook it up, and Plex will take it from there. Open Plex and let it automatically connect with the tuner and antenna to find all of the available channels in your area.

When Remote Access is connected on your Plex Server, you’ll be able to stream content, including live TV and anything you’ve recorded, on any of your Plex compatible devices.

Plex takes the channels you get from the antenna and organizes them into an easy to search, easy to use guide, to find exactly what you want.

With the DVR feature, you can record individual episodes or entire seasons of your favorite shows. The content is saved to your account and you’ll have access to it wherever you have Plex installed.

Who Can Use It

Plex Live TV & DVR is available to anyone with a Plex Pass subscription. Choose from three subscription options to get started:

  • Monthly: $4.99/month
  • Annual: $39.99/year
  • Lifetime: $119.99

With a Plex Pass, you’ll have access to local channels and channels from around the world. You’ll also have the ability to record shows, store them, and watch whenever you want from your TV or mobile device. You’ll also have the ability to watch offline. And, finally, you’ll be able to watch live TV when you connect to an antenna and digital tuner.

Compatible Devices

Plex makes it easy to watch live TV on the following devices.

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Android (mobile)
  • Android TV
  • Apple TV
  • iOS
  • Plex Web App
  • Roku
  • Xbox One

Currently, you can manage your DVR settings and content with each of these devices, except Roku.

What You Can Watch

As with any Plex account, you’ll have full access to your entire media library through the app, both on your TV and mobile devices. With the Plex Pass subscription, you’ll also be able to watch live TV.

The content you’ll have access to will depend on which channels you can pick up with your antenna. (Find out which channels are available in your area here.) In the US, you’ll most likely have a great selection of channels when you enter your zip code. Most users will have access to major networks, and programming including sports and news.

Plex also makes it possible to rewind, pause, and fast forward, so you’ll never miss a moment.
