Roku31Roku has long been known for offering a wide range of channels giving users access to a ton of great 100% free content. Yet there is so much content out there that it can be hard to find the best free content.

I could tell you my favorite free channels but maybe the best way to find the best free content is to look at what the top 10 most installed free channels on Roku are.

So here are the top 10 free Roku channels as of May 2016:

#3 CBS News: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/27536/cbs-news
#4 PBS Kids: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/23333/pbs-kids
#5 PBS: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/23353/pbs

#7 AOL On News: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/31863/aol-on-news
#8 JW Broadcasting: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/47791/jw-broadcasting
#9 Tubi TV: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/41468/tubi-tv
#10 NBC News: https://channelstore.roku.com/details/9581/nbc-news

A few honorable mentions are Pluto TV, NewsOn, Fox News, and VEVO.

What is maybe an interesting fact is that four of the top 20 Roku Channels are music channels with no videos. Pandora, Spotify, iHeart Radio, and Tunein Radio are all in the top 20 Roku channels as of May 2016.

It is also clear that people love news on their Roku as nine of the top 20 Roku Channels are news related including CBS News, AOL On News, NBC News, Fox News, News On, Newsy, ABC News, Sky News, and WeatherNation. That does not even include channels, such as Pluto TV, that include news but are not focused on news.
