Today we kick off the 2018 Cordie Award Winners with the Best New Streaming Player of 2018 award. A few weeks ago, we asked our readers to vote on their favorite cord cutting devices and services of 2018. We are excited to announce the winners of the best cord cutting devices and services of 2018 according to our readers.
First up today is the award for the Best New Streaming Player of 2018. With over 41.9% of the vote, the Roku Ultra was named the Best New Streaming Player of 2018.
The Fire TV Stick 4K came in second place with 21.4% of the vote followed by the Roku Premiere with 15.7% of the vote. In fourth place was the Fire TV Cube with 7.9% of the vote and the Chromecast 2018 received 3.8%. In sixth place was the Mi Box S with 1.3% of the vote.
What is most interesting from this list was the fact that the 2018 Roku Ultra only had minor updates from the 2017 model. The main selling point was a slight change to the remote’s quick launch buttons and new JVC buds that come bundled with it. The Roku Ultra coming in first place points to how strong a bond Roku has with their customers and how dominant Roku is in the world of cord cutting.
If you are looking at new and interesting products, the Fire TV Cube and Fire TV Stick 4K must jump out at you. The Fire TV Cube combines a Fire TV streaming player and an Echo Dot into a single device. The Fire TV Stick 4K is the first major Fire TV update in a few years and offers a lot of power.
