After over two decades two of the most popular daytime courtroom shows are coming to an end. This week The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Warner Bros. Discovery has canceled both Judge Mathis and The People’s Court.

The People’s Court first premiered in 1997 and will end after 26 seasons. The show has won four Daytime Emmy Awards. It had also run from 1981 to 1993 with Judge Joseph Wapner as the original judge.

Judge Mathis ran for 24 seasons and first premiered back in 1998. It is the second longest-running court show behind Judge Judy.

This comes as Daytime TV viewership has been dropping as increasingly many viewers are turning to streaming services instead of traditional broadcast networks.

Judge Judy has also moved off of traditional broadcast TV over to Amazon with her new Judy Justice show. NBCUniversal has also moved its last soaps show from NBC to Peacock.
