Broadcasting giant Gray Television, Inc. is entering the new year with a new name, reflecting its evolution beyond traditional television broadcasting. Effective January 1, 2025, the company will officially become Gray Media, Inc., a move unanimously approved by its Board of Directors.

This rebranding aligns the company’s formal name with how it’s increasingly referred to, both internally and externally, acknowledging its expansion into diverse media markets and investments in new technologies.

A Legacy of Growth and Transformation:

Gray Television, with its roots tracing back 127 years, has grown into a media powerhouse. The company currently owns and/or operates television stations across 113 television markets that collectively reach approximately 36 percent of US television households. These stations include affiliates for major networks like ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, and The CW.

However, Gray’s reach extends beyond traditional broadcasting. In recent years, the company has diversified its portfolio, venturing into digital platforms, streaming services, and other media ventures.

“Over the past decade, Gray has grown into new geographic and business markets, while also expanding content and product offerings for our loyal viewers,” said Executive Chairman Hilton H. Howell. “Our reach has diversified beyond local media, and we’re investing time and resources into new business models and technologies — more now than at any other time in the company’s 127-year history.”

Embracing the Future of Media:

The name change to Gray Media, Inc. signifies the company’s commitment to innovation and its vision for the future of media consumption. This rebranding reflects Gray’s ongoing transformation and its ambition to lead the way in both traditional and new media.

“With this growth and change, formally updating the company’s name to Gray Media, Inc. reflects our ongoing transformation and continued desire to lead the way in traditional and new media, alongside our leading broadcast stations,” Howell explained.

Seamless Transition:

The name change will not affect the company’s stock trading symbols (GTN), CUSIP numbers, or the rights of its security holders. Trading under the new name is expected to commence on January 10, 2025.
