Today Nvidia Shield owners will start to see an update to the SHIELD Software Experience Upgrade 8.0 roll out. This update brings Android 9.0 Pie to the Nvidia Shield with a long list of new features. This also includes access to Hulu’s new app that includes Hulu with live TV along with a redesigned settings menu and faster setup for new users.

“Upgrade 8.0 also delivers several enthusiast-level features. For HDR TV owners, a new feature called Match Content Color Space can automatically switch your display mode to deliver more accurate colors whether you are browsing the home screen or watching your favorite movie in HDR.” Nvidia said in a statement sent to Cord Cutters News.

Netflix has also been updated to add Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound for audio up to 640 kbps. Other updates include new apps like Bravo and E!. FandangoNOW also has a major update to its app.

You should see the update roll out to some Nvidia Shields today. You can always run a system update in the settings to see if your Nvidia Shield is ready for the update.
