The New ESPN, FOX, Warner Bros. Discovery Sports Bundle Will Cost More Than $40 According to Fox

Last month, Walt Disney’s ESPN, Fox, and Warner Bros. Discovery announced a new streaming bundle that will offer 16 live sports channels and none of the non-sports related channels. Early reports had the service costing more than $30 a month. Later some reports said it would likely costs $40 to $50 a month.

Now Fox says the service will be in the “higher ranges” of the estimates, likely meaning the service will cost between $40 and $50 a month. This is from Fox CEO Lachlan Murdoch at the Morgan Stanley Technology, Media and Telecom conference on Monday.

But the figures give some indication of how much it’ll cost to subscribe to this service, which incorporates channels such as ESPN, TNT, and FOX Sports, as well as local affiliates from ABC and FOX. FOX CEO Lachlan Murdoch last month told investors that he thought the service would go after “cord nevers” rather than cord cutters, but it’s easy to see sports-loving cable subscribers eyeing this service as well.

The success of the service will likely depend on the price. With YouTube TV, Fubo, and Hulu all offering these channels and more in the $70 to $80 price range, this new package needs to come in well under that, or subscribers may decide the extra $20 may be worth it for many more channels.

This package includes many of the most popular sports channels but misses others like the Golf Channel, CBS, and NBC. The lack of these channels is likely not an issue for many as long as the price is right.

Here’s a list of the channels that you would be getting with this new sports service:
