LocalBTV is a live TV streaming service that focuses on streaming local TV. Launching back in 2017, first in the greater San Francisco area, it streamed 35 local channels for free on its app. With the service, you can watch local channels for free for the channels it has contracts with. Right now though in many markets, the service is down as it is struggling with a network issue.
Here is the message posted on LocalBTV’s affiliates in affected areas:
LocalBTV viewers, We’re currently experiencing an issue with our main bandwidth provider. The fix is complicated and we are working hard to get it resolved. This impacts some markets in which many channels in the Local tab are temporarily unavailable. The channels in the National tab are still available. Thank you for your patience and hopefully you find some channels you enjoy. Team LocalBTV
The good news is you can still enjoy national channels but many locals are offline. Hopefully, soon they will be restored by LocalBTV has not given any timeline on when it expects the channels to go live.
Cord Cutters News has reached out to LocalBTV for comment nad will post updates as we learn more.
Now LocalBTV is available on a growing number of devices and markets. This week the service added Samsung smart TVs to its list of supported devices.
