The CW has long been one of the most cord cutting friendly networks. With their The CW app offering free next-day access to their programs, it is easy to watch what you want. One thing some have wished The CW had offered was an ad-free paid option for The CW content. According to The CW, there are no plans for an ad-free premium option.
“We’ve discussed it in the past,” The CW President Mark Pedowitz said yesterday at the Television Critics Association’s summer press tour. “We made a conscious choice to be an Ad-VOD service. We felt there were not enough Ad-VOD services out there. There is a limitation to how much people will pay. In addition, we did not have enough girth to offer the consumer something that made economic sense.”
Hopefully, other networks follow The CW’s example and make all their shows free with ads available the next day online.
