Free ad-supported streaming services have become one of the fastest-growing areas in cord cutting. That raises the question, what is the best one? Even though you can use all of them for free, there are so many, where should you start?
We asked more than 1,000 of our readers about what the best free streaming service is for our 2023 Cordie Awards. According to our readers, Pluto TV is the best free streaming service in 2023 with 31% of the vote.
The Roku Channel came in second place with 21.6% of the vote. Tubi was in third with 18.7% and Amazon’s Freevee came in fourth at 16%. All other streaming services earned 2% or less of the vote.
The best part of this list is you can easily test all of them for free. Most of these services are available on most major streaming players and even mobile devices. They all also have a slightly different content lineup.
In the past, the argument was that they all had the same content, but now there are increasingly high-end exclusive deals—whether the content is already on the market and coming exclusively to a service or original programming made just for that service, the quality of free ad-supported content is a lot higher than it was even a few years ago.
