We often get asked what is the best DVR to record from the antenna? That is a tough question because there are several great options. So, we decided to ask our readers what they use for an OTA DVR as part of our 2018 Cordie Awards for Best Cord Cutting Devices and Services.
According to our readers, Tablo DVR was the best OTA DVR for cord cutting with 8.9% of the vote. TiVo came in second with 6.9% of the vote, and HDHomeRun and Plex tied for third place with 4.8% of the vote.
Here is the full breakdown:
- Tablo DVR: 8.9%
- TiVo: 6.9%
- HDHomeRun: 4.8%
- Plex: 4.8%
- Channel Master: 2.7%
- Fire TV Recast: 0.9%
- Air TV: 0.5%
Maybe the biggest surprise was the fact that 69% of our readers said they do not use a DVR. Yet 62.8% of our readers said they use an antenna to watch free over-the-air TV. Once again, for the second year in a row, most of our readers who have an antenna didn’t use a DVR to record content.
Do you have an antenna but not a DVR? Let us know why. Is it the cost of the DVR or did you just not find a use for a DVR for your antenna?
