The Apple TV App is Coming to Roku Players & Roku TVs Today

Today it was announced the Apple TV app will be available on Roku devices later today. The app has been available on Apple TVs since June 2019 and has since been added to other smart TVs. Roku is warning that some older Roku models won’t support the new Apple TV app.

Now you will be able to subscribe CBS All Access, HBO, Starz, AcornTV, Britbox, CuriosityStream, MTV Hits, Shudder, and more from the Apple TV app on your Roku TV and Player. On November 1st Roku owners will be able to use the Apple TV app on Roku to subscribe to the new Apple TV+ streaming service.

“With the Apple TV app coming to Roku, our customers will enjoy an even broader range of exciting entertainment, including the highly anticipated Apple TV+ service,” said Scott Rosenberg, Senior Vice President and General Manager of Platform Business, Roku. “Roku is a valuable partner for content providers looking to reach a large and engaged audience, and we’re looking forward to bringing this new option to Roku users.”

The Apple TV app also has a Kid section full of find kid-friendly content from across multiple streaming services.

Back in March, Apple promised the Apple TV app would be eventually be available on Roku and the Fire TV. Now that Roku has it, it seems likely the Fire TV is not far behind, especially in anticipation for the streaming service Apple+ launching November 1, 2019.
