Telly, the Company Offering Free TVs, Shows Off ChatGPT-Powered Voice Assistant at CES

Telly TV - Chat GPT voice assistant CES 2024

Free TV company, Telly, debuted its new artificial intelligence voice assistant, “Hey Telly,” at CES 2024.

“Hey Telly” is powered by ChatGPT and aims to deliver consumers a “completely transformed home entertainment and the virtual voice assistant experience.”

The voice assistant, which will launch with a voice command from the second smart screen, will enhance the user’s TV experience with accessible AI features like customizable avatars and personalities. In addition, “Hey Telly” will eventually “know and recognize” household members to better deliver a personalization.

For example, Telly said if you’re a vegetarian on the hunt for a restaurant, “Hey Telly” will suggest vegetarian options without your needing to specify.

“This feature promises to make Telly not just a television, but a valuable, interactive family member and further delivers on Telly’s promise to be the smartest TV ever built,” Telly said in a release.

The announcement comes after AI saw an explosive surge in interest last year when OpenAI’s ChatGPT went mainstream. Tech companies quickly focused on ways to incorporate AI into their own products and offerings.

This is the smart TV manufacturer’s second AI-related reveal at CES 2024.

On Monday, Telly announced a new partnership with video technology company TheTake to give customers a more interactive viewing experience. The agreement will allow Telly households to engage with streaming and linear content through TheTake’s technology by way of Telly’s built-in second smart screen without legacy agreements that block most other TV manufacturers from using automatic content recognition across certain forms of content.”

Telly also unveiled other projects like a newly integrated browser, smarter QR codes, Zoom watch parties, and more.
