Tegna Will Bring its Live Local News to Fire TV with Launch of New Apps

Today Tegna announced apps for its OTT streaming stations are headed for Amazon Fire TV. The apps are set to hit the devices sometime in 2020. Tegna also announced an update for its Roku apps finished rolling out today, giving viewers an enhanced experience.

Tegna’s OTT station apps give viewers free, ad-supported access to live news and the most recent news broadcasts, breaking news and weather forecasts,

In addition, Tegna’s True Crime Network app is also now available on Roku. This latest expansion lets fans watch the original true crime content on one of the most popular streaming devices.

“TEGNA is capitalizing on the growing popularity of streaming and over-the-top services by expanding our offerings across digital platforms, driving audience growth and diversifying digital revenue streams,” said Adam Ostrow, chief digital officer, TEGNA. “Our latest rollout of station apps and the True Crime Network app, as well as new features on web and mobile, gives consumers even more ways to watch local news and entertainment programming.”

Tegna has seen major growth in digital viewership this year, even setting records in the first part of 2020 for visitors, video plays and monthly active users.
