Today Tablo announced that they have added support of 5.1 surround sound to their popular DVR for cord cutters. This all comes with a new 2.2.22 firmware update that is now rolling out.
Here are the supported devices:
*Your streaming device must also have the 5.1 surround sound enabled to take advantage of the 5.1 surround sound. You must also have a 5.1 surround sound system.
How to enable Surround Sound on the Tablo DVR:
Once your Tablo has updated to the 2.2.22 firmware, the global Surround Sound feature can be enabled in the settings screen in the following Tablo apps:
- Tablo web app at my.tablotv.com
- Tablo Preview app for Amazon Fire TV and Android TV
- Tablo Roku Channel (coming soon)
The toggle will be added to additional Tablo apps soon.
Tablo is hoping the addition of 5.1 surround sound will help the Tablo line of DVRs standout from growing competition. Tivo, Channel Master, and Air TV have all been pushing hard to cash in on the growth of cord cutting. The addition of 5.1 should help Tablo standout in a market that is growing increasingly crowded.
