T-Mobile is Offering a Free Line to ‘Targeted’ Customers. Here’s How to Find Out if You Qualify

T-Mobile is offering select customers a free line on their plan.

The promotion allows T-Mobile subscribers to add a line to their account and receive a monthly bill credit to cover the cost, the report said. It’s unclear how the carrier is choosing the “targeted” customers and whether there’s some criteria to meet. The Mobile Report first reported on it, but T-Mobile has confirmed the promotion to Cord Cutters News.

This isn’t the first time T-Mobile has offered free lines in a bid to drum up attention or build customer loyalty, but these kinds of promotions come up less frequently in recent years as the company has gotten larger, having become one of the Big Two wireless carriers it previously mocked.

The Mobile Report notes that the extra line requires you to bring your own device, and that it isn’t eligible for any of its device financing plans or trade-in promotions.

The report notes that there isn’t anyway of knowing whether you’re eligible, but you can contact customer service to check. The discount program is listed under “BYOD Line Discount ID230289,” and the report notes that the internal document referencing this freebie is named “OR18818.”

A T-Mobile spokesperson couldn’t immediately be reached for comment.
