After more than 25 years with the company, Brian King, executive vice president and chief information officer at T-Mobile, has announced his retirement. In a tweet, King expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work with brilliant people and praised the innovation and dedication to exceptional service that T-Mobile has upheld.

“After 25+ years, I’ve decided to hang up my @TMobile #TeamMagenta shoes later this year to move on to what’s next.,” King Tweeted alongside a photo of his iconic magenta sneakers. “What a ride 🚵‍♀️, with so many brilliant people to thank! It’s been an honor, and I look forward to see how the Un-carrier continues to innovate and deliver.”

Brian King became the CIO of T-Mobile following Cody Sanford’s departure in March of 2021. His work since then has been exemplary, but his contributions to the company were numerous even before he took that position.

Having served in various leadership positions within the telecommunications industry, King brought a wealth of experience to his role. As the Chair of the FCC’s Communications Security, Reliability, and Interoperability Council (CSRIC), he demonstrated his commitment to advancing communication technologies.

Under his previous position as SVP and chief operating officer of technology, King played a crucial part in managing the network, IT operations, and emergency management response. His contributions were particularly vital during the Sprint merger and the establishment of T-Mobile’s customer care work-from-home operation during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There has been a massive amount of growth during King’s tenure, as T-Mobile not only expanded its customer base but also focused on advancing its technology infrastructure. Through prioritizing network hardening, deploying disaster response vehicles, and collaborating with innovative partners like Pano AI and Valmont, T-Mobile solidified its place as a leader in emergency response capabilities. These developments best showcase the company’s commitment to challenging industry norms.

As T-Mobile bids farewell to Brian King, the company continues its commitment to providing reliable connectivity and innovative solutions, ensuring that customers and first responders stay connected during challenging times. His contributions to the company and the industry as a whole have been pivotal as technology heads into the future.
