Every quarter we survey our readers, and this spring more than 2,500 Cord Cutters News readers took the time to let us know their views on some of the most popular cord cutting services, devices, and more.
One of the questions we asked was what is the best FREE streaming service. According to our readers, Pluto TV is the best free streaming service with 37.8% of the vote. The Roku Channel is right behind them at 36.4% of the vote. In third place is Crackle at 16.7%, and Tubi at 8.4% is in fourth.
If you follow cord cutting it may be no surprise that Pluto TV is the number one free streaming service. They offer both live and on-demand streaming options with a huge catalog of content. What may surprise you is the new Roku Channel streaming service being a close second shortly after it launched.
Roku is putting fewer ads than they could on the service. Now after looking at the strong showing in our recent survey, you have to ask if that move is paying off. Could the fewer ads be leading to higher viewer count? If Roku increases the ad count to be more inline with services like Tubi and Crackle will that drop their viewer numbers?
Clearly, something is helping The Roku Channel get out to such an aggressive lead over Crackle and Tubi as both offer more content. Maybe it’s the new factor that is helping The Roku Channel stand out.
Did you vote for The Roku Channel? If so, why? We would love to know what makes The Roku Channel so popular after only recently launching.
