Stargate fans can now watch the series for free on Amazon Freevee. In June, Amazon acquired the Stargate collection from MGM and is making good on its word to create a series-specific channel on the free streaming platform.

Stargate by MGM is an ad-supported channel that streams Stargate episodes 24/7. Freevee plays approximately 10 minutes of ads per hour, according to GateWorld, less than you’ll catch on broadcast television. Freevee also offers Stargate Origins, a web series from 2018, along with the complete Stargate series.

Freevee members can watch via the mobile app or through a web browser. It’s free to sign up. Click “Live TV” and search for the Stargate channel to start binging the epic sci-fi series. The series plays in order, and you won’t get to pick specific episodes.

If you want an on-demand option, you’ll need to sign up for an Amazon Prime membership. Prime subscribers can also access the TV film The Ark of Truth and some of the show’s spinoffs. For $3.99, you can rent the Stargate TV film Continuum.

Stargate SG-1 is a science fiction series created by Brad Wright and Jonathan Glassner based on the 1994 film of the same name. The series premiered in 1997 and ran through 2007. Stargate SG-1 centers on the eponymous Stargate, a wormhole portal connecting to other stargates across the universe. The show takes off a year after the events from the film. SG-1 is an elite U.S. Air Force team that defends the Earth from alien threats. The series is set on present-day Earth, with the U.S. government controlling the portals to acquire rare resources, new technology, and keep an eye out for threats to humanity.

The series is a sequel to the film and leads into spinoffs Stargate Atlantis, Stargate Universe, and Stargate Origins, which are not part of the Freevee channel. Several books, video games, and comic books sprung from the movie and series.

Amazon acquired MGM last year. In June, the streaming service planned to create a dozen channels featuring MGM content. The Stargate Channel is now live. There’s no word yet on when The Outer Limits and MGM Presents: Sci-Fi will debut.
