There’s a lot riding on the new Star Wars series Ahsoka. Disney+ has had a rough run with some poorly received shows, and with a looming price hike coming, it’s getting harder to justify.
In comes the fan favorite character with her own show. If you’re not familiar with Ahsoka Tano, you can check out older episodes of Star Wars Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels on Disney+. But you can get a brief glimpse of her history in the latest Disney YouTube short, titled “A New Star Wars Legacy.” It comes a day after Disney released a teaser narrated by Hayden Christensen, who played Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in the prequel trilogy.
There’s a lot of hype around Ahsoka, but Star Wars fans have been burned before. There was a lot of excitement over shows featuring fan favorite characters Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, yet both shows were met with mixed receptions. Andor turned out to be a bright surprise, but ironically didn’t get the kind of viewership Disney would’ve wanted.
Maybe Ahsoka will turn the tide and give you a legitimate reason to keep Disney+.
