In honor of Star Trek’s 60th anniversary, the beloved sci-fi franchise is gearing up for a yearlong celebration that boldly goes into streaming territory. With new titles coming to Paramount+ and fresh content landing on YouTube, fans across the galaxy will have plenty to look forward to starting in January 2026.

The festivities were unveiled on Star Trek Day (September 8, 2025), setting the stage for a massive cultural milestone that culminates on Star Trek Day 2026…exactly 60 years since the USS Enterprise first launched into pop culture history.

Paramount+ to Launch New Live-Action Series in 2026

The headline act for the streaming celebration is “Star Trek: Starfleet Academy,” set to debut on Paramount+ in early 2026. The new series brings a fresh take on the franchise, focusing on young cadets as they begin their journeys toward becoming Starfleet officers. Viewers can expect intergalactic drama along with a brand-new villain.

The show features Oscar-winner Holly Hunter as Chancellor and captain of the U.S.S. Athena, with Oscar-nominee Paul Giamatti playing the season’s main antagonist.

Meanwhile, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds continues to anchor the current franchise lineup, wrapping up Season 3 this week on Paramount+. With Seasons 4 and 5 on the way, the platform remains a must-have for Trekkies.

New Star Trek Series Blasts Off on YouTube

For younger fans (or longtime fans raising the next generation) there’s a new animated series beaming onto YouTube. “Star Trek: Scouts” premiered September 8 with two short episodes now live on Nickelodeon’s Blaze and the Monster Machines channel. This marks the first preschool-focused Star Trek series and follows three junior explorers (JR, Sprocket, and Roo) as they take on missions to “discover, grow, and boldly go.”

The 20-episode short-form series will continue to roll out into 2026 and is entirely free to stream on YouTube.

Podcasts, Webtoons, and a LEGO Tease

The celebration isn’t limited to traditional TV formats. A scripted podcast series, Star Trek: Khan, also launched this week. It dives into the backstory of Khan Noonien Singh, voiced by Naveen Andrews (Lost), with new episodes dropping weekly on podcast platforms and the official Star Trek YouTube channel.

Coming in 2026 is a new Webtoon series, aiming to bring Star Trek storytelling to a digital comic audience of over 155 million global readers.

And in a bit of brick-breaking news, Star Trek and LEGO teased their first-ever partnership. While details are still under wraps, a teaser video suggests big things are being built behind the scenes.

More Ways To Celebrate

The 60th anniversary kicks off with a Star Trek-themed float in the 2026 Rose Parade on January 1 and includes a special DoSomething.org youth campaign called “Boldly Go Green,” encouraging eco-action inspired by the franchise’s values.

For superfans, Star Trek: The Cruise returns February 20-27, 2026, with iconic guests like William Shatner and Walter Koenig joining over 20 franchise stars at sea.

Fans can stay updated through the newly launched StarTrek60.com hub, which will feature event calendars, merchandise drops, and exclusive signups. Right now, Star Trek Shop is offering 25% off sitewide with code STARTREKDAY25 through September 12.
