Spotify Overhauls Smart TV App To Make it Easier to View and Control Your Music

Spotify on Thursday rolled out a makeover for its smart TV app, giving users more control the music they stream.

The changes include a redesigned homepage that’s more in-line with the existing mobile and desktop experience. That means familiar short cuts, recent songs and personalized recommendations will be easier to access.

The interface also allows you to manage your playlist by letting you change or view what songs are coming up. The prior interface only allowed you to see what song was up next.

The changes are an acknowledgment that while most of us watch shows or movies on the TV, there are still plenty of people who use it as a music player. Spotify also added a “dark mode” that dims the screen and tunes down the visuals to allow the screen to fade into the background.

Lastly, Spotify’s change makes it easier to switch accounts on the fly, allowing different members of a household to access their preferred playlists and recommendations.
