Spectrum TV vs Vidgo – Which is Cheaper, Cable TV or Cord Cutting?

You may have seen a lot of talk about how cable TV is cheaper so today we
are going to compare a real Spectrum TV bill to the cost of Vidgo. Let’s go head to
head and see which option really is cheaper, cable TV or Cord Cutting.
First, a special thanks to all of the Cord Cutters News readers who sent in
their cable TV bills to help make this story a reality.
The cost of Spectrum TV:
In this post, we will be looking at the Spectrum TV Basic TV & Expanded
Basic TV Bundle. This package is not Spectrum’s most expensive but is a good
comparison to Vidgo.
Thanks to a reader’s copy of their bills we know that this Basic TV and
Expanded Basic TV bundle with DVR service, 3 TV boxes cost $141.95 a month. Let
us not stop there because there are also fees and taxes on top of that. This
customer also had Spectrum Voice and Spectrum Internet for a total of $272.27.
From that price, $40.34 every month was fees and taxes.
The total cost of the Spectrum TV bundle is $141.95 a month. (Plus fees and
taxes)
The cost of Vidgo:
The cost of Vidgo right now is $64.95 a month to get access to 110+ live TV
channels. There are no device fees or other hidden fees.
The total cost of Vidgo is $64.95. (Plus sales tax depending on where you
live.)
Total Savings of Vidgo vs Cable TV:
In total, going with Vidgo over Spectrum will save you about $77. (Plus all the fees and
taxes that you pay for Spectrum but not Vidgo.) Over the course of a year, Vidgo
will save you $924 a year even before we look at fees etc.
Final Thoughts:
Yes, like everything right now, the cost of streaming services is going up,
but so is the cost of cable TV. No matter how you look at it, cord cutting is
still cheaper than cable TV.
