Worried couple reading a letter sitting on a couch in the living room at homeIf you still have Spectrum’s cable TV service get ready to pay more. It was reported yesterday that they will be increasing their broadcast TV price from $8.85 to $9.95. Their receiver costs will go from $6.99 to $7.50. Digital adapters will go from $4.99 to $5.99 each and if you have the Latino View add-on it will be going up from $7.99 to $8.99 a month.

According to letters sent to customers this week, these changes will go into effect in the Buffalo New York market starting November 1st, 2018.

This all comes as New York has ordered Charter’s Spectrum cable to leave the state after accusing them of not meeting their commitments. New York is also seeking $3 million dollars in penalties from Charter.

“Charter’s repeated failures to serve New Yorkers and honor its commitments are well documented and are only getting worse,” Commission Chair John Rhodes said. “Charter’s non-compliance and brazenly disrespectful behavior toward New York State and its customers necessitate the actions taken today seeking court-ordered penalties for its failures, and revoking the Charter merger approval,”

Charter is promising to fight the ruling and released the following statement:

“In the weeks leading up to an election, rhetoric often becomes politically charged. But the fact is that Spectrum has extended the reach of our advanced broadband network to more than 86,000 New York homes and businesses since our merger agreement with the PSC. Our 11,000 diverse and locally based workers, who serve millions of customers in the state every day, remain focused on delivering faster and better broadband to more New Yorkers, as we promised.”

For now, as they fight over Spectrums future in New York current customers will have to pay more starting tomorrow.
