Recently the number of scammers targeting customers of large cable TV companies have grown. One of the biggest recently has been callers claiming to give customers half off internet for a year if they prepay for six months in advance.

Now a new scam is targeting customers with Spectrum  customers being the main target. Recently callers have been calling Spectrum customers claiming a discount on their plan is coming to an end and saying they need to switch plans paying money to save money.

Be very careful of anyone calling you to claim that you can save money by paying them especially if they ask you to do it with a gift card.

It seems scammers are using a recent data breach that impacted Spectrum to target Spectrum customers.

As always be careful anytime you get unsolicited emails or calls. Increasingly they are more likely scammers especially if they are asking for money.

If you are in doubt hangup and look up the company’s customer service number. Be careful of phone numbers not listed on the official website for that  company.

Sadly in 2024 it is increasingly important to be ever careful about handing over any personal information.
