Spectrum, a leading provider of cable television and internet services, has confirmed it will increase the price of some of its legacy internet plans by $2 per month starting in July 2025. There will also be a $5 a month price hike on Spectrum Select TV packages. The announcement, shared with customers via email and billing notices, attributes the price adjustment to rising operational costs.
The $2 monthly increase will apply across Spectrum’s legacy internet plans for customers who have not switched over to newer plans. For a typical household subscribed to Spectrum’s Internet legacy plans, this translates to an additional $24 annually. The company stated that the price adjustment is necessary to offset escalating costs for infrastructure maintenance, network upgrades, and other operational expenses.
Spectrum says customers can save by bundling TV or mobile phone to their internet only plans to help offset the price hike on their older plans.
Earlier this year, Spectrum raised its TV Select package by $3 per month, citing increased programming costs from networks. This comes as Spectrum recently raised the price of TV twice in just 12 months. This most recent price hike comes as Spectrum announced it is adding Hulu to its TV packages and bringing back Disney channels that had ben removed.
The price increase will take effect with billing cycles beginning on or after July, 2025. Customers enrolled in Spectrum’s autopay or paperless billing will see the new rate reflected automatically. Those concerned about the hike are encouraged to contact Spectrum’s customer service to explore promotional offers or bundled packages that may offset the cost.
As the telecommunications industry continues to grapple with rising operational expenses, Spectrum’s latest move underscores the challenges providers face in balancing profitability with customer satisfaction. For now, subscribers will need to adjust their budgets for the internet price hike or look at other options to save money.
