Yesterday, Sling TV sent out surveys to customers looking at its free streaming service, Sling Freestream. In the survey, Sling TV asked about possible major changes that Sling TV could make to improve its free streaming service. Cord Cutters News received copies of this service from multiple readers and has confirmed what was in them.

Sling Freestream is a free ad-supported streaming service that offers over 430 free channels and over 41,000 on-demand titles. Sling Freestream is available through the Sling app on Amazon, Roku, Comcast, LG, Samsung, Xbox, and Vizio devices and continues to roll out across other major devices, providing customers a no-barrier entry point to high-quality programming without any payment or credit card required.

Here are the three proposed changes Sling TV is looking at making according to the survey for Sling Freestream:

1st, Add a free DVR with 10 hours of storage just by creating a free account. This would let you record the free channels offered on Sling Freestream. It will also let you fast-forward through commercials. If you want more storage for $5 a month, you could get 200 hours of DVR storage with Sling Freestream.

2nd Pay-Per-View events could be offered through Sling Freestream even if you are not a Sling TV customer. This would let you pay to watch major events alongside all the free content in Sling Freestream.

3rd Premium Events could be added to Sling Freestream. It was unclear what these premium events are, but Sling TV asked if offering premium events for a fee would be of interest.

Update: Sling TV sent Cord Cutters News this statement about the survey. “We are always looking for ways to improve and optimize our service utilizing feedback from our users. Our goal is to create a streaming platform and FAST service that delivers on our customers needs and entertainment choices.”

Right now, Sling TV is only considering these features. Some features like the DVR features and Pay-per-view have all been offered to Sling TV customers already. For now, we will have to wait and see what Sling Freestream.
