Sling TV Announces a Fix For a Cloud DVR Bug That Affected Some Users Adding the Total TV Package

Update: After several reader comments that they’re still having issues with the DVR feature, we reached out to Sling TV and got the following response:

“For clarity, the issue with Cloud DVR and the Total TV Deal has been resolved for customers who purchase the Total TV Deal going forward, and we are currently looking into remedies for impacted customers who previously purchased the deal and lost their DVR recordings.”

We’ll continue updating this post as we hear more from Sling TV about when and how the problem will be resolved.

Yesterday, Sling TV announced a new deal that allows subscribers to add more channels and DVR storage to their plan. The Total TV deal includes 7 Extras (including the 50 Hour Cloud DVR Extra) that can be added to either a Sling Orange or Sling Blue plan for an extra $20 per month.

Since then, we’ve received some reports from Sling TV users who say that when they add the Total TV package, their DVR feature is disabled and doesn’t appear as an option any longer. One reader contacted customer support and were told that they were aware of the problem that had been reported by other users and were actively working to resolve it.

We reached out to Sling TV as well. According to Sling TV, the issue is now resolved and that customers would be receiving communication from their team to address it.

If you’re a Sling customer and were seeing comments about the problem with losing DVR capabilities with the Total TV deal, the problem is now resolved and you can give the Total TV deal a try without fear of losing your saved content.
