Sinclair Broadcast Group has announced a bold rebranding of its free over-the-air (OTA) television network TBD, set to become ROAR on April 28, 2025. The newly christened network aims to carve a distinct niche in the digital broadcast landscape, focusing on delivering what Sinclair describes as “uproarious comedy series” that capture the “lightest, funniest, and coolest moments of your day.” The rebrand comes with a new online hub, WatchROAR.com, where viewers can tune in, explore programming, and dive into the network’s refreshed identity.
The transition from TBD to ROAR reflects SinclairBroadcast Group’s strategic pivot to double down on comedy as a cornerstone of TBD’s schedule, targeting audiences seeking escapism and laughter amidst a sea of diverse viewing options. ROAR will continue to be available for free to millions of households across the U.S., accessible via digital antennas and select streaming platforms. The network’s lineup will feature a curated mix of classic and contemporary comedy series, viral sketches, and lighthearted reality shows, aiming to inject humor into viewers’ daily lives. While specific titles remain under wraps, Sinclair has teased fan-favorite reruns alongside fresh, original content designed to spark joy.
The rebranding aligns with Sinclair’s broader vision to bolster its multicast networks amid a surge in OTA viewership, which has grown as cord-cutting accelerates. ROAR joins Sinclair’s portfolio alongside other genre-specific networks like Comet (sci-fi) and CHARGE! (action), each tailored to distinct viewer interests. The network will maintain its wide reach—currently accessible to over 90% of U.S. households through Sinclair’s extensive station partnerships—ensuring that ROAR remains a staple for antenna users nationwide.
For now, TBD will continue its current programming until the switch, giving viewers ample time to prepare for the network’s comedic overhaul. With ROAR, Sinclair hopes to make laughter a daily ritual for OTA audiences—no subscription required.
