Lat week Sinclair and Disney completed their deal to sell the Fox Regional Sports Networks to Sinclair. This deal was worth $10.6 billion and gave Sinclair ownership of Fox Sports RSNs and Fox College Sports network. Now Sinclair announces that they have agreed to buy 20% of the Yes Network for $3.47 billion.
Sinclair joins Yankee Global Enterprises, Amazon, RedBird Capital, funds managed by Blackstone’s Tactical Opportunities business, and Mubadala Capital. Advisors for Sinclair were Guggenheim and Liontree as part of the new group ownership of the YES Network.
“We are excited about partnering with such a renowned franchise as the New York Yankees,” commented Chris Ripley, President & CEO of Sinclair. “With this investment, we will have 23 RSN brands, including Marquee with the iconic Chicago Cubs, and 21 RSN brands acquired from the Walt Disney Company last week.”
With this deal Sinclair now has ownership over the Fox Sports Arizona, Fox Sports Detroit, Fox Sports Florida, Fox Sports Sun, Fox Sports North, Fox Sports Wisconsin, Fox Sports Ohio, SportsTime Ohio, Fox Sports South, Fox Sports Carolina, Fox Sports Tennessee, Fox Sports Southeast, Fox Sports Southwest, Fox Sports Oklahoma, Fox Sports New Orleans, Fox Sports Midwest, Fox Sports Kansas City, Fox Sports Indiana, Fox Sports San Diego, Fox Sports West, and Prime Ticket. Also included in the acquisition is Fox College Sports along with 20% of the Yes Network.
This move adds to Sinclairs growing portfolio of sports networks. Sinclair already owns the sports network Stadium that streams free online and over the air in many markets.
