Shout! Studios has announced the acquisition of worldwide home entertainment, broadcast, and digital distribution rights for the iconic TV series “Pee Wee’s Playhouse,” created by and starring Paul Reubens. The studio, which had previously held rights to the series, has now expanded its offerings to include AVOD (advertising-supported video on demand) rights, promising to bring this beloved show to an even broader audience.
“Pee Wee’s Playhouse,” which originally aired on CBS from 1986 to 1990, has been a staple of American pop culture, enchanting children and adults alike with its unique blend of live-action, puppetry, and animation. The show features Pee Wee Herman and his eclectic gang of housemates in a magical playhouse where everything comes to life. Its innovative production and whimsical storytelling earned the series 22 Emmy Awards during its original run.
With the new AVOD rights, “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” will be available on Shout! TV, a digital streaming service operated by Shout! Studios. Shout! The rollout on Shout! TV will not only include all 45 episodes of “Pee Wee’s Playhouse” but also the “Pee Wee’s Playhouse Christmas Special.” Viewers can look forward to special programming stunts, marathons, viewing events, and more, celebrating the show’s rich history and continued popularity.
