Earlier this year Warner Bros. Discovery refocused truTV into a sports network but now the network will be diving into sports in a even more meaningful way.

Say goodbye to most non-sports programs during primetime as truTV, starting in October, will start airing sports coverage at 6 pm Eastern each weeknight according to an announcement from Warner Bros. Discovery.

This year, nearly 1,000 hours of sports programming will air on TruTV in 2024, with plans to grow that in 2025.

Some of the programming coming to truTV include NASCAR practice and qualifying, MotoGP, MMA Events, and more.  You will also find studio shows like TNT Sports Tonight and The Line. You will also find competitive shows, including Wipeout, sports movies, documentaries, and scripted series.

“We’re very pleased with the early launch of the TNT Sports programming block on truTV and will expand our commitment to bolstering the dedicated primetime sports lineup this Fall,” said Craig Barry, Executive Vice President and Chief Content Officer, TNT Sports. “Just as Adult Swim takes over for a different audience at night from Cartoon Network, we aspire for TNT Sports on truTV to be a go-to destination for a dynamic range of fans seeking not only more premium sports, but also alternate ways to experience and enjoy them, along with additional culturally relevant and entertaining sports content.”

Warner Bros. Discovery has gone all in on getting new sporting TV rights as it announced multiple deals with different college conferences to air games on Max, truTV, TBS, and TNT.

The most recent deal sees the Big East conferences men’s and women’s college basketball games moving to TNT, TBS, truTV, and Max. In total, 65 regular season Big East basketball games in the 2025–2026 season will move to Warner Bros. Discovery and stream on Max.

This comes as Warner Bros. Discovery and the Mountain West Conference announced a deal that will bring 14 football games to Max and truTV. TNT Sports will produce a collection of Mountain West games to be aired on the newly rebranded truTV and the Max streaming service.

This all comes as sports is one of the main shows people watch on live TV. This shift to live events has pushed  Warner Bros. Discovery to switch its focus to more sports.
