What Is Banana Ball?
Banana Ball is a turbo-charged twist on traditional baseball, featuring time limits, nonstop action, and rules designed to maximize fan fun. There are no walks, no mound visits, and if a fan catches a foul ball, the batter is out. Oh, and did we mention choreographed dance numbers? That’s part of it.
Games are a mix of real athleticism and pure spectacle. The Bananas’ players, which include some former MLB and college stars, perform stunts, play on stilts, and engage in comedic skits, all while fiercely competing in front of sold-out crowds.
Who Are the Savannah Bananas?
Based in Savannah, Georgia, the Bananas started in 2016 and quickly went from a collegiate summer team to a national phenomenon. In 2023, they left traditional league play to focus entirely on Banana Ball exhibitions. This was a move that led to an 80-game world tour and appearances in major league stadiums across the U.S.
Their viral antics have earned them over six million followers on TikTok and coverage from ESPN, CNN, and The Wall Street Journal. They’ve sold out MLB stadiums, performed on cruise ships, and recently drew over 80,000 fans to a single game at Clemson’s Memorial Stadium.
