This week Roku and Walmart quietly announced a deal to release Roku branded streaming players and audio devices under the Walmart ONN brand. Hidden inside Roku’s earning statement was a short line that said “We recently agreed with Walmart to offer several new Roku devices including audio products to their customers under their onn brand. This is in addition to Roku TVs and Roku players already sold through Walmart. ”. (Walmart Onn brand is Walmarts store brand electronics name.)
Roku and Walmart have a long history of working together including releasing an exclusive version of Roku streaming players in Walmart stores. The best example of this is the Express+ and the Premiere+ from Roku that can only be found in Walmart. (Yet many resellers buy them and sell them on other websites also.) Roku even has special versions of their Roku Players that include the Vudu service on the Roku remote.
What exactly these new products will be is unknown at the time. What we do know is Roku has been spending big on research and development for new Roku products. Now it sounds like Walmart and Roku are teaming up to bring these new products to Walmart stores.
