Roku has become the of the leaders in the world of cord cutting. Roku’s budget-friendly price, easy-to-use design, and access to thousands of apps like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, YouTube TV, Sling, and more.

The problem is Roku has 6 different streaming players, including multiple versions of some like the Roku Stick 4K and the Roku Stick 4K+ so which ones are right for you? We are going to break that all down here by looking at the Roku Ultra the high end Roku box vs the Roku Stick 4K+ the high end Roku stick.

You can find the Roku Ultra on Amazon HERE and the Roku Stick+ on Amazon HERE

Streaming Apps

First it is important to note that both of these players stream all the same apps. No matter which player you pick you will be able to stream all the same apps like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon and more.

Winner: Tie

Wi-Fi & Internet Access

Both players have really good Wi-Fi but the Roku Ultra has slightly better Wi-Fi performance and has an option for ethernet allowing you to plug directly into your router. Though most people will not have any issues with the Roku Stick 4K+ as its Wi-Fi antenna is one of the best in a streaming stick.

Winner: Roku Ultra with a close second for the Roku Stick 4K+.

Performance

The big question with any streaming player is will it work and how dose it work. In our testing of both streaming players, we had no issues loading and running a wide range of streaming services on both devices.

According to the specifications, the Roku Ultra is a more powerful streaming device. Our testing did show it was slightly faster in loading different streaming services but it was so slight anyone not paying attention to it would likely not notice.

Winner: Roku Ultra but just barely when looking at actual user end experience.

Price

At the time of this posting the list price for the Roku Ultra is $99.99 and the Roku Stick 4K+ is $69.99.

Final Thoughts

Both streaming players are a great options the Roku Ultra dose have one killer feature that likely helps it stand out over the cheaper Roku Stick 4K+. That is the ability to find your lost Roku Remote just by clicking a button on the Roku Ultra that causes its Roku remote to make a loud beeping noise to help you find it.

Past that both devices are very similar as you see above.

So if price is the most important thing I would get the Roku Stream Stick 4K+ and save the $30. If you need something with ethernet and a find my remote feature, I would go with the slightly more expensive Roku Ultra.
