Roku Reportedly Controls 43% of All Connected TVs Compared to Amazon Fire TV’s 18%

roku ultraToday Conviva released their “State of the Streaming TV Industry” report that looked at many aspects of streaming TV. One of the areas it considered was the most popular streaming player and according to Conviva Roku controls 43% of all connected TVs in the United States. According to the report, Amazon’s Fire TV is the second most popular device with 18% of the market followed by the Apple TV at 10%.

Here is a full breakdown:

This report lines up well with a growing number of reports that show Roku’s are the most popular streaming players followed by the Fire TV. When looking at the total viewing TV 55% happens on a connected TV, 23% on a mobile device, 14% on a PC and 8% other.

Don’t count out Amazon’s Fire TV as it has steadily been catching up and claims to have 34 million active Fire TV accounts compared to Roku’s 28 million accounts. (We will likely learn more after Roku reports its 2nd quarter earnings report later today.)
