ROKU-4-REMOTE-3QUARTER-USBRoku recently updated their Roku 4 players to address the fan noise issues many people have reported.

This new option, called “run cooler,” gives Roku 4 owners more control over the Roku 4 fan. The description for this option on your Roku 4 reads, “Keep your player cooler to the touch, even if the fan must run noisier in some situations.”

Roku 4 FanNow, by default, it appears that this option is turned off, meaning the fan will run at lower speeds to keep it quieter; however, if having a warm Roku 4 bothers you, there is now an option to crank up the Roku 4 fan.

So why is this an issue Roku is moving to address?

Last fall when the Roku 4 came out there was some reports of Roku 4’s having a loud fan noise. The fear of a loud fan has pushed some buyers away from the Roku 4. Now Roku seems to have heard their fans’ requests for options to address what some see as a loud fan with these new options.

If you want to find the “run cooler” option in your settings just select “system” in the Roku menu and scroll down to “system temperature” in the “system” menu.
