Ahead of CES next week, Roku is making some big announcements about how the company is growing and developing new technology for cord cutters. Roku announced today that it holds the title Number 1 Smart TV OS in the US and Canada, according to NPD’s Weekly Retail Tracking Service.

With the Roku TV reference design, TV brands can build smart TVs with a user friendly design at competitive prices.

To continue to build on the Roku TV Ready ecosystem, Roku has unveiled its design for a wireless soundbar using Roku’s proprietary audio technology to connect seamlessly with any Roku TV wirelessly. The design allows for impressive audio and video synchronizations and the simple set up that the brand is known for.

TCL is expected to launch the first wireless soundbar using the new reference design with details to be shared at CES next week.

“We are proud to power the smart TVs that are most frequently purchased in the United States and Canada. Every day we work to ensure our customers have the best TV experience and that means – ease of use, choice, endless entertainment and great value,” said Mustafa Ozgen, senior vice president of Account Acquisition at Roku. “Additionally, with the introduction of our new wireless soundbar reference design, we are continuing to expand our home entertainment eco-system to ensure consumers can pair any Roku TV with great sound.”

Along with the new wireless design, Roku shared today that it will expand its Roku TV Ready program in the US and internationally. In the US, Element will be added to the list of Roku TV Ready partners, launching a 2.0 Roku TV Ready Soundbar and 2.1 Roku TV Ready Soundbar + Subwoofer later this month.

Roku aims to expand the availability of Roku TV Ready program internationally and will announce partners and products by country at a later date.
