Roku has long offered a powerful free app for Android and iOS owners. Now Roku is rolling out a brand new version of its app with its 4.0 update.

You will get a completely fresh look that brings better control of your Roku and content discovery. The first thing you will notice when you launch the new Roku app is a simpler navigation and a sleeker look. With one tap you can install channels, browse what’s on, and use the remote to control your Roku or share photos and videos to your Roku.

Roku Channels

When you first launch your Roku app you will see all the channels you have installed on your Roku. From there with one tap you can launch the channel on your selected Roku or you can start browsing the Roku channel store to add new channels to your Roku.

What’s On

The new What’s On tab takes the best of your My Feed and adds a hand-picked selection of entertainment to rent, buy, or watch for free on your Roku. The new What’s On feature will help you learn what is available on your Roku.

Controlling Your Roku

The new Roku app completely updates the in-app control of your Roku. The new interface looks a lot more like your Roku remote and puts all the buttons closer together for smoother control on larger phone screens.

The best feature of the Roku app remote is the ability to use your phone or tablet keyboard to type on your Roku. From entering passwords or searching for content using your phone keyboard is a much better way to do it.
