Major League Baseball (MLB) is looking for a new home for its Sunday morning games, and now it seems that Roku may be it. According to a report by the Wall Street Journal’s Joe Flint, Roku has emerged as a possible partner for Sunday Leadoff that Peacock had the last two seasons. The games would likely end up on The Roku Channel, but exactly how that would work is unknown.

Peacock ended its partnership with MLB after the end of 2023 season according to a report form The Athletic.

Roku has been working hard to build up itself as a major player in the sports world. It just announced a partnership with NBCUniversal to offer a hub for this summer’s Olympics on its streaming players.

The Roku Channel has also made several sports streaming partnerships including a partnership with the WWE to showcase some of its new and upcoming talent.

If Roku was able to be the exclusive home to some MLB games, it could help the player and The Roku Channel find a new following with sports fans.

Other services, however, could possibly get these MLB games. Many streaming companies, including Apple, Amazon, and Google, have recently been bidding hard for sports rights to help them stand out in a crowded field of streaming services.

No word yet on whether the MLB will be able to reach a deal for these games before the end of the 2024 season.
