While it may still be summer, Roku is already pepping the halls with festive programming. The streaming platform announced a fresh lineup of Roku Originals set to bring holiday cheer later this year, just in time for viewers looking to skip the heat and dive into cozy romance, heartfelt makeovers, and baking showdowns.
New Holiday Movies with Familiar Faces
Two brand-new original movies are joining Roku’s holiday roster. First up is Jingle Bell Wedding, a sequel to last year’s hit Jingle Bell Love. Joey McIntyre of New Kids on the Block fame and Heartland’s Michelle Morgan return as Jack and Jessica, a couple trying to tie the knot on New Year’s Eve while juggling a surprise career opportunity.
Next is Merry Little Mystery, a holiday rom-com starring singer and actress Jordin Sparks alongside Keon Alexander (The Night Agent). Sparks plays a small-town Secret Santa trying to stay anonymous while a reporter works to uncover her identity and, of course, love complicates everything. Sparks also recorded an original song exclusively for the film.
Feel-Good Makeovers Return
Roku is also bringing back Honest Renovations: A Holiday Home Makeover, starring Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis. This new special follows the duo as they renovate the home of William Basulto, a Los Angeles fire captain who bravely fought this year’s wildfires. According to Alba and Mathis, “The holiday season is all about bringing people together and making memories. What better way to do that than by transforming a house into a forever home, filled with holiday cheer.”
More Festive Favorites on the Way
These three titles join The Great American Baking Show: Celebrity Holiday, which will return for its fourth season on The Roku Channel. Judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith will once again lead the competition, joined by returning host Casey Wilson and new co-host Andrew Rannells.
All titles will stream for free on The Roku Channel. According to Brian Tannenbaum, Head of Originals at Roku Media, “Fronted by a group of extraordinary talent, our Roku Original holiday slate will deliver feel-good, delightful content just in time for the holiday season.”
