One of the standout features is the simplified channel favoriting system. Users can now mark their preferred channels as favorites with a single press of the “*” button on their Roku remote. This streamlined process makes it easier to curate a personalized lineup, ensuring quick access to frequently watched content.
The update also introduces a major improvement in setup flexibility. Upon launching the updated app, users are prompted to choose their preferred channel sources: streaming channels only, antenna channels, cable channels, or a combination of antenna and cable. This customizable setup caters to diverse viewing habits, whether users rely on Roku’s free streaming channels, over-the-air broadcasts, or traditional cable subscriptions. The Roku Channel, which powers the Live TV Guide, now boasts over 350 free linear channels, including news, entertainment, and niche content.
