So What Is the Most Popular Streaming Device With Cord Cutters? We Asked Our Readers

Teenager girl with remote control laying down and watching tv eating popcorn. If you hang around cord cutters you probably know that they can be passionate about what streaming media player they use. You have likely also seen a flood of questions about what the best streaming player out there is.

So we decided to ask our readers and more than 1,000 of them took our survey. We asked them what devices they use, allowing them to list several devices.

The following is how they voted:

What was most surprising in this survey was the fact that most cord cutters use multiple devices: on average two to three different streaming players. So why so many different devices? That is likely due to the growing trend of new services only coming out on a handful of devices. Sling TV came out on Roku first, and DIRECTV NOW came to Fire TV and Apple TV first.

The survey is clear once again that Roku is by far the number 1 streaming media player for cord cutters. These numbers are also in line with recent surveys from companies such as Tivo Research and Parks Associates that show a strong and healthy lead for Roku in American living rooms.

So what is the best streaming player out there? There is no one perfect answer for everyone. Although it does seem that cord cutters lean toward the Roku line of players.
