Live TV streaming is one of the fastest-growing markets not only in cord cutting but in media overall.
Hard numbers from each service have been hard to come by, but we have some ideas. We have reports and sources that have been fairly consistent; however, one of the ways we can find out is to ask our readers.
We asked 1,700 of our readers and the following are the most popular live TV streaming services:
- DIRECTV NOW: 25.4%
- Sling TV: 23.2%
- PlayStation Vue: 21.7%
- Hulu’s live TV: 4.3%
- fuboTV: 1%
- YouTube TV: 1%
These results are a massive shift from what they were when we ran the same survey back in June 2017.
The following are the results from June:
- Sling TV 27.1%
- PlayStation Vue 26.9%
- DIRECTV NOW 19.8%
- Hulu Beta 3%
- YouTube TV 2.4%
According to our readers DIRECTV NOW saw significant growth and took market share from both Sling TV and PlayStation Vue. Hulu also looks to have taken a small bite out of Sling TV and PlayStation Vue subscriber numbers.
So what do you think is driving the rapid growth of DIRECTV NOW and the dropping market share for Sling TV and PlayStation Vue? Leave us a comment and let us know.
