Today at the MoffetNathanson Cord-Cutting Summit the CEO and Co-Founder of Pluto TV Tom Ryan made his plans for Pluto TV very clear. “Our mission is to entertain the planet. We want to be the global leader in free streaming television,” Ryan said, according to a tweet from Cecillia Masola.

So what is Pluto TV? Well Pluto TV app is completely free and features more than 200 channels that are always changing. Pluto TV is currently available on Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, iOS, and Android. When Viacom bought Pluto TV, the company added Viacom content, along with building partnerships with major networks. You can now watch content from channels including Nick, Nick Jr., MTV, and Comedy Central for free, along with curated channels from CNN, NBC News, CBSN, the NFL, and more. For some time now there has been a concern that Pluto TV would turn into a paid TV service. Viacom has been clear that they plan to keep Pluto TV free and now so has Pluto TV’s Co-Founder and CEO in today’s event. Hopefully, Pluto TV’s CEO and Viacom’s clear goals of keeping Pluto TV free helps put these fears to rest.

This announcement also lines up well with what Viacom has been saying about the future of Pluto TV. No longer is Pluto TV just a free streaming service in the United States but also a service that is now expanding around the world.

Recently Pluto TV expanded into parts of Europe and will soon cross over into Central America in early 2020. Many have been begging for the service to come to other areas like Canada. Now from what Pluto TV’s CEO Tom Ryan says, it sounds like Pluto TV won’t stop its global expansion anytime soon.

Where would you like to see Pluto TV expand into?
