Update: It looks like PlayStation Vue may have a new deal with these networks. You can learn more HERE.

Earlier this month, PlayStation Vue announced that they are in renewal talks with AMC, Discovery, NBCUniversal, and Turner. Sony has just over 24 hours to complete these deals before the networks go dark.

Sony updated the warning page about channel changes yesterday but left the warning about the networks leaving. Cord Cutters News reached out to Sony and all of the networks about a possible blackout, but Sony and the networks have not commented.

Here is the statement Sony posted on the PlayStation Vue website about these negotiations:

Most of the programming/content you watch on PlayStation™Vue is licensed from programmers for the right to air their networks/channels. Once these agreements near expiration, we enter into renewal discussions where we work hard to obtain the best value for our customers. Though infrequent, sometimes certain licenses will not be renewed, in which case PlayStation™Vue would no longer carry the affected channels or networks. This section will be updated periodically to list channels and networks coming up for renewal. Please note that the dates listed below are subject to change.

June 2019

        • AMC Networks
        • Discovery Communications
        • NBCUniversal
        • Turner Networks

July 2019

        • NFL Network

So, far no one with Sony’s PlayStation Vue has announced a deal with AMC, Discovery, NBCUniversal, or Turner Networks. Sony has not replied to our request for comment likely meaning talks are still underway.

Sadly, Sony is not talking, but the fact that they have repeatedly updated the page about the warning and left it there is our best hint.

From the looks of it, Sony is still in talks. If AT&T’s DIRECTV NOW is any example these talks can go beyond the deadline without a blackout. A+E Networks and Viacom both recently agreed to keep their networks on DIRECTV NOW even after their contracts ended to give them more time to come up with a new deal. Now we will have to wait and see if PlayStation Vue will be able to pull off the same trick.
