With no warning, today PlayStation Vue has raised the price of their service on all packages. Today, even if you get no locals, PlayStation Vue now costs an extra $10 a month.
You will find that PlayStation Vue starts at $39.99 a month for the Access package and goes up from there. The Core package costs $44.99 a month, Elite costs $54.99 and the Ultra costs $74.99. This is the price that subscribers who lived in select areas paid in the past, but now it seems all PlayStation Vue subscribers pay. We have changed the location on PlayStation Vue’s website to areas with no locals and it still shows this new higher price for their packages.
Update #2 After looking into this more it seems that the Slim package on PlayStation Vue is no longer offered. It now starts with the Access package. This is breaking news and Sony has yet to respond to our emails.
It seems this also effects current subscribers as we have heard from readers also found a post on Reddit that their bill jumped without warning. The question now is how will this play out with DIRECTV NOW, Sling TV, Hulu, and others putting pressure on PlayStation Vue? Will they be able to keep their subscribers happy as they charge more for the same service?
Update: Some on Reddit are now reporting their current packages show as no longer available. This suggests that you may be forced to update your package starting today if you want to upgrade. The service is prepaid so if you renewed before today it will likely not take effect till your next bill.
We have reached out to Sony for comment, but at this time there has been no official statement from Sony about the PlayStation Vue price hikes. This is breaking news and we will update the story when we learn more.
